About me

I am an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Special Education at the University of Alabama.
I earned my PhD in special education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

I was born and raised in Antakya (Antioch), Turkey. I received my Master of Science degree in early intervention/early childhood special education from the University of Oregon and my undergraduate degree in special education from Ankara University. I hold certificate of teaching from Turkey and the State of Oregon. I worked for young children with autism and developmental delays/disabilities as a teacher in classrooms and as a home visitor.
I found my passion about early intervention when I began working as a licensed early intervention specialist for children with developmental disabilities. My experiences in home and community settings sparked my passion for working with children with disabilities, especially young children with autism spectrum disorder.
